California Mission Trip 2024 - DAY 5

90° and Smoky

Winds shifted during the night and the smoke from the Park Fire blew to the south where Pat’s house is located.

Our primary tasks were painting the exterior trim and overhand of the house and continuing to install sheetrock inside the house.

The temperature rose into the mid and high 90’s, so we called it a day a little early and took a trip to the Lake Oroville Dam after shower stop at home. It is the highest dam in the United States, and Lake Oroville is the second largest reservoir in the State of California. You may be able to see that the trees in the background are burned. That happened a few weeks ago as a result of the Thompson Fire.

We ended the day by having dinner at a restaurant in downtown Oroville. The highlight was celebrating Cam’s 14th birthday, which will be a few days after we return to Connecticut. He had his dream dinner of steak and mashed potatoes.

The restaurant staff brought him a special dessert after dinner while everyone sang “Happy Birthday!”

We forgot to take beginning and end of day photos, but a lot of progress is being made on Pat’s house. Everyone is tired, but happy that God has enabled us to accomplish so much together.
