Day 6

More building, Dolly Parton and, In-N-Out.

It’s Wednesday! French toast was served with sausage for breakfast! Mike led us in prayer. We’re in the middle of the week now! We’re still following Proverbs 17. Listen more. Observe.

We were off to one stop before continuing to Tiny Pine! A few things weren’t included in our laundry pick up yesterday. Lia’s favorite pair of shorts were recovered! (Phew!)

We went to Berry Creek to help Ray and Tinisa on their house. The long winding drive to their house highlighted the beauty and devastation. Their house faced an amazing view. Alyssa quickly doled out the areas we’d be working on. Jay was assigned to hang drywall in one of the bathrooms. ( I did hear some Jay commentary throughout the day but based on what was said, I decided not to investigate…) Debby and Jenna paired up to do some outside painting on the front of the house. Jenna apparently has no fear of scaffolding. Alec and Lia showed bravery (as far as I’m concerned) to crawl under the house’s crawl space to install some insulation. The rest of us did mudding: taping sheetrock seams, filling in screw holes and skimming walls with joint compound. We got a lot done today! As we did our designated jobs, Mike traveled to Paradise to pick up some donated supplies for Tiny Pine. He then drove it back to TP Foundation to unload it. (I’m hoping he got to pick up one of his Whoppers for the week!)

While vehicles were fueled up at Maidu Mart, our group got Icees (Slurpees)for everyone - what a nice cool off!

Another billboard to catch my eye: “Find the good in everyone. Kindness. Pass it on.” It included a life size picture of Dolly Parton!

This evening we went to In-N-Out Burger! All enjoyed a great meal. Burgers, fries, and milkshakes for the WIN! Then it was on to Shuberts Homemade Ice Cream! In the parking lot, a very nice young lady offered to take our picture as a group! Kindness is real. There were so many flavors to choose from. But here were the chosen: Strawberry Cheesecake, Mocha Chip, Rocky Road, Mango Sorbet, Turtle (not sure what that is other than it has pecans in it), Lemon Custard, Chocolate Chip, Toasted Almond with Mint Chip, Cookies & Cream, Salted Oak with Salted Caramel. Sooo many flavors to choose from! What a fun outing! Debby said “Lights out by 10!” I think I’ll beat that deadline! Night, night! Zzzzz…
